What's New for VMware Validated Solutions - Edition #25 (July 2024)

Last Updated: 23-Jul-2024

Welcome to Edition #25 of the What's New for VMware Validated Solutions, this is the update for July 2024, the highlights of which are:

Added Support for VMware Cloud Foundation 5.2.0

Delighted to announce support for VMware Cloud Foundation 5.2.0 for the following VMware Validated Solutions:

Developer Ready Infrastructure for VMware Cloud Foundation

Added the following implementation procedures:

Intelligent Network Visibility for VMware Cloud Foundation

Added the following implementation procedures for solution interoperability:

End-to-end Automated Implementation using PowerShell

Where automation exists, each validated solution now provides a procedure for end-to-end automation using the new validated solution menu provided by the PowerShell Module for VMware Validated Solutions release in May’s update.

Solution Interoperability Automation from the Validated Solution Menu

The PowerShell Module for VMware Validated Solutions now includes new menu options for performing the end-to-end automation related to Solution Interoperability configuration for the following solutions:

Importing the VMware Aria Suite OVA files into a vSphere Content Library

Following the Broadcom acquisition, the VMware Customer Connect website has been replaced with the Broadcom Support Portal and as part of this change VMware Aria Suite Lifecycle has currently lost the ability to download the VMware Aria Suite OVAs directly from the site resulting in a new multi-step process to inject the OVAs into VMware Aria Suite Lifecycle. For this reason, the validated solutions have chosen to utilize a vSphere Content Library which in our opinion simplifies the process slightly but is also the best method to use when running nested environments within lab setups.

Signed Certificate Generation using the PowerShell Module for VMware Validated Solutions

First introduced as part the PowerValidatedSolutions v2.10.0, the manual implementation procedures now include the use of PowerShell cmdlets included as part of the PowerShell Module for VMware Validated Solutions over the use of CertGenVVS script. The following solutions have been updated:

Cloud-Based Workload Protection for VMware Cloud Foundation

Due to changes in the service offering we have deprecated Cloud-Based Workload Protection for VMware Cloud Foundation with immediate effect.

General Availability of PowerValidatedSolutions v2.11.0

A PowerShell module that has been written to support the automation of many procedures associated with the implementation of the VMware Validated Solutions for VMware Cloud Foundation .

The module helps reduce human error, delivers consistency and robustness, and accelerates the time-to-deploy these solutions. The module's cmdlets reduce complexity by automating the deployment and configuration steps using the product APIs or command-line tools.

Release Highlights

  • Bug fixes and enhancements.
